1st influential reason

Eli Whitney was a very influential man. I think this because of what he did in just one lifetime, not only did Whitney invent the cotton gin but he also revolutionized the way we look at gun making. First Whitney made the cotton gin. After being employed on a plantation for a long time Whitney began to watch the slaves work, he noticed how long it took to clean one cotton plant. Finally after working for many years and with the help of Phineas Miller and the slaves of the plantation Whitney created the cotton gin. A machine that could do a whole days work in less than an hour. The other great thing Whitney accomplished was creating the first assembly line that made any two muskets exactly alike. After retiring from the cotton gin business Whitney decided to make guns. After watching gun makers for many years Whitney noticed there was only one way to fix a broken musket. Whitney did not like this so he took it upon himself to create the first musket assembly line. Whitney did many other amazing things but those are the two most notable
