2nd influential reason

Eli Whitney was not just an ordinary man for many reasons, he was very influential. The reason I believe this is because not only did Whitney invent the cotton gin but he also revolutionized gun making, achieving more than one great feat in such a short lifetime. First he worked on a plantation and watched slaves work all day, after a long time of doing this Whitney successfully created the first cotton gin. The cotton gin was not an instant success it took some time to build the first working model. After Whitney created the cotton gin he wanted a patent and sadly it took almost 14 years to get one. By the time Whitney had left the cotton gin business he was already aged yet still wanted to achieve something else. Whitney decided to move on and start a gun making business; Whitney noticed how guns were made and how you had to fix them, he didn’t like this. The fact that each gun was hand made and the parts were not interchangeable irritated him. Whitney knew there had to be a way to create guns that were identical. Finally after years of work Whitney had created the musket making assembly line. There are many other reasons why Eli Whitney is an influential man but I think accomplishing more then one great feat in a single lifetime is very notable.
